Massachusetts Rural Lands
The Massachusetts Hilltowns are under threat from large scale industrial solar and battery storage systems. We're fighting for our land, our water, and our right to self-govern.
Who We Are
Led by a growing coalition of over 400 Hilltown residents, we strongly oppose aggressive, high-risk industrial solar and battery storage projects that threaten the character, safety, and sovereignty of our communities.
"People think if it's clean energy, it must be low risk. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is a disaster waiting to happen."
We do not oppose renewable energy. We oppose the industrial plundering of our sacred land — our farmland, our watersheds, and our right to determine our own future.
Thermal runaway fires release toxic chemicals no volunteer fire department is equipped to handle.
Thousands of acres of prime farmland, forest, and wildlife habitat permanently destroyed.
Industrial installations threaten the aquifers and streams that feed our wells and watersheds.
State energy mandates are overriding local zoning laws, stripping towns of the right to govern themselves.
